Gregory Skidmore founded Belpointe Asset Management with Brandon Lacoff in 2007. Greg currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Belpointe Asset Management.
Greg’s career in finance started when he joined Advest, formerly a subsidiary of AXA Financial, where he spent time in Equity Research and Institutional Sales, working to generate investment ideas for large institutional clients. He then took that experience to Smith Barney where he designed and managed portfolios for one of the premier private wealth management teams within Citigroup. He then went on to start Belpointe Asset Management.
Greg graduated from Connecticut College in 1999 with a dual major in Economics and History. He has completed the SACRS UC Berkeley Haas School of Finance Public Pension Investment Management Program. In addition, he has passed the series 7, 24, 63, 65 securities exams and he has passed the Connecticut life and health insurance exam.
Anthony Cardenas serves as VP of Investment Management at Belpointe. He began his financial career as an investment analyst at a boutique hedge fund in 2017, where he primarily researched public and private companies in the defense industry and oversaw a team of junior analysts. Prior to joining Belpointe in 2020, Anthony was the Head of Operations for a fund manager based in Greenwich, Connecticut. He holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and an undergraduate degree from UC Davis.
David Nelson serves as Chief Strategist at Belpointe, a role he has held since 2011. A 25-year industry veteran, David is nationally recognized for his portfolio management and is a frequent guest on major media outlets including CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, and the TD Ameritrade Network.
David is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Market Technician (CMT). Over the decades, he has honed his quantitative skills in equity and fixed income through asset management roles at Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, and his own firm, DC Nelson Capital.
The media often references David’s “rock to stocks” transition, referencing his background as a recording artist for some of the era’s most popular musicians and bands.
